Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-08-13

Plain language, so you can actually read them. These terms cover working with tugscode in general; a specific project also gets its own written agreement, and where the two disagree, that agreement wins.

Prices on this site are estimates

The range the scoping tool gives you is an estimate, not an offer. It is worked out from the answers you gave and the assumptions listed alongside it.

The fixed price is agreed in writing before any work starts. Nothing on this site obliges either of us to anything until then.

Scope and changes

What we write down before starting is the scope of the work. It is also the protection: it is what tells us both when the project is finished.

New ideas during the build are welcome, but they are quoted separately rather than quietly absorbed. You will always see the cost before it becomes work.

Payment

The payment schedule, currency and invoicing details are agreed per project in the written agreement.

If an invoice goes unpaid past its due date, I may pause work until it is settled. I will tell you before that happens, not after.

Timelines

Delivery dates assume I get the content, feedback and approvals we agreed on, roughly when we agreed on them.

Delays happen on both sides. When something slips, I will say so early and tell you what it moves, rather than letting a deadline arrive quietly.

What you own

Once you have paid in full, the code and design produced for your project are yours.

Open-source libraries and third-party services keep their own licences and terms; they are not mine to transfer.

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, I may show the finished work in my portfolio. Anything you tell me is confidential stays out of it.

Not included in a project price

Hosting, domain names, third-party service fees, payment provider fees and app store developer accounts are real costs, but they are billed to you by those providers rather than by me.

Ongoing maintenance after launch is agreed separately.

Fixing things, and the limits

Defects in what I delivered are mine to fix, for the period set out in the project agreement.

I cannot promise business outcomes — search rankings, traffic or sales depend on far more than the software.

Where the law allows it to be limited, my liability is capped at what you paid me for the project in question.

Stopping the work

Either of us can end a project. You pay for the work done up to that point and receive it; I hand over what exists rather than holding it back.

Changes to these terms

I may update this page as the work changes. The version that applies to your project is the one in force when we signed the agreement — updating this page does not change a deal already made.
